About Counselling

What is counselling?

We are all likely to have times in our lives when we encounter difficulties and struggle to make sense of what is happening. A counsellor is trained to listen and interact in a way that will help to identify the root of your emotional concerns in a safe, confidential and non-judgmental environment. Counselling can help you make better sense of the feelings you experience and enable you to feel more confident about how to manage difficulties in the future. As you gain a better understanding of yourself it is possible to improve how you understand, and relate to, others.

My Approach

There are many different models of therapy. In the main I practise emotional therapy, which is a person centred approach. I do not direct you, as I believe that you know yourself best. Instead I will help and support you in finding your own answers and making your own decisions, thereby strengthening your confidence and increasing your self worth.

When can counselling help?

Counselling can help with current problems as well as issues from the past. Each client’s situation is unique but some of the issues I work with include:

  • Loss or bereavement
  • Low confidence
  • Relationship problems
  • Anxiety / Panic Attacks
  • Anger issues
  • Stress
  • Eating disorders
  • Life’s challenges
  • Trauma
  • Abuse
  • Depression
  • General apathy or unhappiness with life

Please note that this list is not exhaustive.
